Mrs. Denise Abreu, ESOL

I am excited to begin my 35th year in education as the ESOL teacher at Sharon. I began my teaching career in Florida and Gwinnett County where I taught Kindergarten, First and Third grades for 11 years. I was fortunate to be able to spend 16 years working part-time in the preschool world as an Assistant Director and Pre-K teacher while I was raising three amazing boys. Teaching part-time allowed me to volunteer in my kid's classrooms, be a room mom and serve on the PTA board  here at Sharon for more than a decade. In 2017 I returned to the classroom full-time teaching 6th grade math, 5th grade math and 3rd grade ESOL math.  I love math and have served on the ֱapp Math Assessment Revision team, Curriculum Selection team and am currently working on the ֱapp Resources Revision and Development team.

My husband and I met at the University of Florida where I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education with certifications in Middle Grades content, Reading and Special Education. I am a lifelong learner and am always searching for ways to improve my teaching practices. Since graduating, a long time ago, I have earned endorsements in Coaching, Early Education, ESOL and Teacher Support.

On a personal note, I have been married to Boris for 30 years. We have three incredible boys who are all Sharon graduates. Boris A. is a UGA alum who lives and works in Washington, DC, Shane is a senior at UNG Studying Criminal Justice with Forensics concentration and Jack is a sophomore AFROTC Cadet at UGA studying Mechanical Engineering. When I am not at school you can usually find me reading, walking, or spending time with my family. I am so excited to join the Sharon family teaching and collaborating with  the wonderful people who worked with my own children. I look forward to an amazing year of learning together.

Mrs. Laura Mazul, EIP

Are you ready for the best year yet?  Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

This will be my 12th year teaching and  my 9th year at Sharon.  I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2012 with my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.  I believe that one should never stop learning, so I returned to KSU and received my Masters in Inclusive Education.  My favorite part of teaching it is telling my students they are capable, and watching them believe in themselves while conquering their goals.

As a general education teacher and ESOL teacher I have taught all elementary grades.  I am excited to bring my knowledge of the grade level progressions to enhance your childs’ learning.

My greatest passions are teaching and animals.  In fact, my love of animals and hippotherapy led me to become a teacher.  My husband and I live on a farm where we have 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.

I look forward to getting to know you.  This will be a great year!

Mrs. Jessica Nardecchia, EIP

My name is Jessica Nardecchia, and I am so excited to be returning for a 6th year to Sharon Elementary. I taught 4th grade at Sharon Elementary for 4 years, and I am excited to be starting my second year as an Early Intervention teacher.

I earned both my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Arts in Education, with an endorsement in reading, from The University of Findlay, located in Ohio. My husband, Cory, and I relocated from Ohio to the Atlanta area in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the Georgia life!

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 10th year teaching. Before coming to Sharon Elementary, I taught as a 3rd-grade teacher in Gwinnett County Public Schools. During my time in Gwinnett, I completed my gifted endorsement, enabling me to encourage innovative and creative thinking in my classroom. I enjoy fostering a supportive family-like feel in my classroom, where students feel supported and encouraged in their learning.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and dog! We love going on walks, playing, and exploring new areas together! We also enjoy watching movies, attending concerts, going out to eat, and spending time with friends.
