Mrs. Tricia Ashcraft, Science & Social Studies

Hi!  My name is Tricia Ashcraft, and I’m thrilled to be teaching 5th grade Science and Social Studies at Sharon.  I’ve taught in Forsyth County for nine years, six at Sharon and three at Brandywine.  The majority of my experience is in Florida where I taught for twenty-five years at seven different schools.  I’ve taught first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, and also served as an assistant principal.  I have a bachelor’s degree   in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership.  As you can see, I love variety and change.

My family is very important to me.  My husband and I met in college at Troy State University in Alabama.  We have been married for 34 years and have a daughter, Taylor.  She graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Caroline and is now working and living on her own in Roswell.  As a family, we love spending time together hiking, camping, and kayaking.  The outdoors is my happy place.

I am passionate about teaching and building relationships with my students and their families.  I’m looking forward to another GREAT year at Sharon!

Mrs. Catherine Evans, Math

My name is Catherine Evans and this is my 3rd year at Sharon Elementary and I will be teaching 5th graders math. I have been a teacher for 16 years in Gwinnett County. Throughout those 16 years, I had the opportunity to teach across all elementary grade levels.

As a commitment to being a life-long learner, after completing my bachelors from Georgia Southern University in Elementary Education, I continued my education and earned a Masters from Walden and Specialist Degree from Piedmont College.  I am also Gifted endorsed in order to help students of all ability levels reach their highest potential.

I live in Cumming with my husband John and my five-year-old daughter Kinsley. She is starting kindergarten this year.  If we aren’t playing at the lake or in the pool, you will find us somewhere outside playing games and yelling “Go Dawgs”.

I am committed to helping my students grow, and I look forward to a great school year full of learning, new adventures, and discoveries.

Mrs. Lori Gilchrist, Math

Hello to my new students (and their parents)!  I am Lori Gilchrist, one of just a handful of teachers who has taught at Sharon Elementary since its opening back in 2003.  If you are new to Sharon, you arrived just in time.

Back when I was a baby teacher, my first 8 years were spent  teaching first graders at a small public school in Brooks, GA (Fayette County Schools). After a period of staying home with my own children, I returned to the profession. I am beginning my 22nd year  in Forsyth County, which happens to be my final year before retirement (this time, for real).  I am looking forward to another great year with my math scholars!

I am originally from a small town south of Rome, GA. I am the youngest of four, my husband is the oldest of four, and we are the parents of four children.  I am grateful that 3/4 of my kids live in the Atlanta area. My oldest son and his sweet wife are the parents of my precious grandbabies, William and Eli.  Being a grandparent is grand!

I am a lifelong learner.  In addition to my education degrees, I have gifted and math endorsements.  I love watching my students take control of their own learning. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students thrive and push themselves simply because that’s what they want to do.

Thank you for reading a little bit about me.  Please don’t hesitate to reintroduce yourself after Open House.  I want a chance to get to know you!

Mrs. Stephanie Kleinhenz, Reading/Language Arts

My name is Mrs. Kleinhenz, and I’m proud to start my 16th year of teaching at Sharon Elementary. I’m excited to be teaching another year of 5th Grade Language Arts—it’s going to be a phenomenal year for our readers and writers! Literacy is truly my passion, and I make it a point to ensure students thrive in a literacy rich classroom environment! Books literally spill from the shelves in my classroom into the hands of eager readers!

This is my ninth year in Forsyth County. Prior to coming to Forsyth County, I taught in Palm Beach County Florida for seven years. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Science and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I also have my Special Education certification and Online Teaching endorsement. I have experience working with students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and have worked with students with varying levels of ability.  I have a strong literacy background, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching language arts. I bring to Sharon Elementary a passion for education and dedication to helping all students succeed!

We moved to Georgia eight years ago. Prior to that, I’ve lived in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and Canada. Moving closer to my family is what brought us to Georgia to start a new adventure! My husband Adam and I have two young girls, Emma (age 9) and Nora (age 6).I’m so happy to have both of my girls here at Sharon with me! Our other family member is our maltipoo, Maddie. Our girls are the pride and joy in our lives. We love to watch them grow and help cultivate their own love of learning. My parents and my sister live in Georgia too, so we enjoy living close to family. My sister is Miss Sarnacki, 5th Grade ELA Teacher here at Sharon Elementary! So excited to share another year on this educational journey with her! Teaching with my sister is really a dream come true!

I love spending time with my family, working out to stay healthy, baking, reading a good book, and taking pictures to capture the memories of our daughters’ lives. I’m also a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan, so you’ll see evidence in my classroom! Looking forward to another great year at Sharon Elementary-Go Knights!!

This January will mark my 19th year of teaching. Prior to coming to Forsyth County, I taught in Alabama for thirteen and a half years. I have experience working with students in third through sixth grade and have worked with students with varying levels of ability. My teaching philosophy is to ignite a passion for learning by making school a place where children want to come.

We moved to Georgia due to my husband’s work as a computer engineer. My husband James and I have two boys, Mitchell (age 20 at UNG) and Parker (age 17 Senior at Lambert). Our other family member is our lab mix, Lil Bit (11). Ms. Courtney Miotti, Reading/Language Arts, Science & Social Studies

Hello! My name is Courtney Miotti and I am absolutely ecstatic to be returning to Sharon Elementary for my fifth year! In the past, you may have seen me teaching in the 4th grade halls. This year, I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade! I am looking forward to working with multiple groups of students in ELA, Science, and Social Studies.

I was raised in Georgia, primarily here in Forsyth County, so this area has been home to me for a very long time. I take pride in graduating from Georgia College and State University (Go Bobcats!) with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Additionally through Georgia College, I received a Reading Endorsement and became an Apple Certified Educator. Currently, I am continuing my education at Valdosta State University and pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling. Along with teaching this year, I will have the pleasure of working with our amazing counselors and students to develop my counseling skills. I have already learned so much, and I love that there are so many elements that I can apply from my studies to my classroom!

One of my greatest passions is cultivating relationships with my students- I love hearing their stories and perspectives on the world. My former students would describe our classroom environment as a big, happy family that has fun and works hard. My goal as an educator is to be someone who not only highly engages students in the grade level content, but also inspires them to grow as individuals through learning valuable life skills such as kindness, problem solving, and building confidence through self- advocating.

Teaching and being a master’s student are what currently take up the bulk of my time, but I find it absolutely essential to sprinkle in activities of self care! I enjoy going out to eat, working out, roller blading, skiing (in the winter!!), listening to audiobooks, and spending quality time with family and friends.

My family is so important and special to me! My sister is married to my awesome brother-in-law and they have two little girls that I am so lucky to call my nieces! I love spending time with Emma (10) & Nora (7)! My family moved around a few times when I was growing up. I was born in Michigan, then lived outside of Toronto, Ontario for six years. We are best friends and love getting to work together!

Another very special part of my life is my sweet dog Belle. She is a 14 year old Maltipoo and my very best friend :). She loves to play fetch with small tennis balls and have her belly rubbed, and she has her mom wrapped around her paw! In my free time I love to cheer on the Atlanta Braves and the Ohio State Buckeyes (Go Bucks and Go Braves!), read a good book, listen to all kinds of music, do jigsaw puzzles, bake something yummy, spend time with my family (especially Emma & Nora!), learn new technology tricks, volunteer at my church, and play with Belle!

I am looking forward to a school year filled with fun, laughter, and lots of learning!
