Mrs. Dawn Bush

I am excited and incredibly honored to be joining the Whitlow Community as the new Principal of Whitlow Elementary for the 2023-24 school year! I have been an educator in Forsyth County Schools for almost 25 years in a variety of teaching and administrative roles. My husband, John, is a fellow educator here in ֱapp, and both of our children are graduates of Forsyth Central High School. Our daughter, Elizabeth, is a UGA grad and a teacher at EFHS (yes…another educator in the family!), and our son, Spencer, is currently working on a degree at GA Tech. I hold a B.S. in English Education, an M.Ed. in Learning Disabilities, and an Ed.S. in Leadership. Our family has lived in the “Heart of Forsyth”/Central school cluster for many years, and I’m proud to live and work within this incredible community. Serving Whitlow Elementary as Principal is literally a dream come true, and I can’t wait to work together with staff, parents, and community members to provide a fun, yet challenging educational experience where all Whitlow students feel valued, successful, and love coming to school each day!

Mrs. April Busby - Assistant Principal

After earning my Bachelor's Degree in Education, I began my teaching career in Cobb County as a middle grades math teacher.  While working there, I obtained my Master's Degree in Special Education. I later moved into the role of a Babies Can't Wait Testing Facilitator and then taught in a severe and profound self-contained classroom. After my family and I moved to Henry County, I taught IRR in middle grades and in a gifted classroom.  Since joining Whitlow, I have not only taught as a 4th and 5th grade teacher but served on various district wide committees and Task Forces, written math curriculum, served as a textbook adoption team member, and was a member of the Forsyth County Coaching Team. In 2019, I received my Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, followed by the completion of the Aspiring Leaders Cohort for 21-22.

When I’m not at Whitlow, I enjoy spending time with my family. I’m married with three children. My spouse is also an educator in Forsyth County. My oldest, Savannah, is a Senior at West Forsyth. My oldest son, Brayden, is a Sophomore at West Forsyth and my youngest son, Jackson, is in eighth grade at Liberty Middle School. My family loves the beach, sports, and traveling.

I’m so excited to begin my second year as an administrator at Whitlow Elementary!
