In this performance-based class, students are introduced to the fundamentals of theatre arts, including character development, improvisation, pantomime, audition techniques and preparation, the history and evolution of theatre, and stage movement. Focus is placed on getting students comfortable in front of people and on the development of the speaking voice, body movement, and stage presence.

Introduction to Theatre is a semester-long course open to any 6th grade PGMS student with no audition required.

This course is performance-based, meaning students will be in front of an audience often, either in solo or small group settings. Students in this course will participate in at least one extra-curricular performance as a class and will also assist with some aspects of the 7th & 8th grade musical to help prepare for their involvement in future productions.

This course is performance-based, meaning students will be in front of an audience often, either in solo, small group, or large ensemble settings. Students in this course will also participate in rehearsals and performances outside of the regular school day which may count as a portion of the students' overall grade for the course.
