    Writing Across the Curriculum

    Piney Grove Middle School is dedicated to providing the highest quality education for our students. To accomplish this, we recognize the current trends that will lead our students to successful careers in the classroom and beyond.

    Literacy standards play a major role in writing across the curriculum.  According to the GADOE, the definition of literacy is, &/domain/2282/8220;The ability to speak, listen, read, and write, as well as to view print and non-print text in order to achieve the following:

    • to communicate effectively with others,

    • to think and respond critically in a variety of settings to a myriad of print and non-print text, and

    •   to access, use, and produce multiple forms of media, information, and knowledge in all content areas.&/domain/2282/8221;

    This is why the Piney Grove staff places an emphasis on writing across the curriculum, as it prepares our students for their continuing education and their future careers. While here at Piney Grove, your student(s) will complete tasks that require several genres of writing.  The most commonly used genre will be the form of expository/informational writing.

    Thus, this section of our web page has been designed to provide additional support for all students and parents. Whether the student is struggling with the writing process, or just searching for opportunities to improve their writing skills, the resources are just a click away.
