• Year Long Course Descriptions

    6th Grade:

    Drama

    7th Grade:

    Advanced Drama or Musical Theatre

    8th Grade:

    Musical Theatre

These are both performance-based courses in which students learn the aspects of play production as they audition, rehearse, and perform in formal productions. Skills such as character development, working as an ensemble, and professionalism are developed in these classes. Advanced Drama students learn improvisation skills, and their performances are comedy plays. Musical Theatre students develop basic movement and vocal skills, and they perform a full-scale musical.

    Advanced Drama:

There is an afterschool commitment which is short but also crucial. During the week leading up to our public performances, we hold dress rehearsals after school for four days, usually until 7:00 PM. These are the only rehearsals we hold outside of class time, and these rehearsals are mandatory for all cast and crew members.

There is a show fee of $50 for students in this course. This fee pays for their show T-shirt, scripts students can keep, dinner on performance night, and helps offset materials costs for productions.

Interested students need to come to Mrs. Cummo’s drama classroom before Spring Break for audition information.

    Musical Theatre:

We hold auditions and the majority of rehearsals during class, however there are some required rehearsals outside of class time. Before auditioning for and registering for this class, be sure you’re willing to make this commitment.

    · Once the spring musical has been cast, there will be music rehearsals with Ms. Kinney starting at 7:30 AM three mornings a week for a few weeks. You won’t be called for every rehearsal, but if you are called for a morning music rehearsal you need to attend.

    · During the week leading up to our public performances, we hold dress rehearsals after school for four days until 7:30 PM. All of these rehearsals are mandatory for all cast and crew members.

There is a show fee of $80 for students in this course. This fee pays for their show T-shirt, scripts students can keep, dinner on performance night, and helps offset materials costs for musical productions.
