    Our Mission: To promote educational performance, providing all students with the opportunities to acquire the academic, career, personal and social competencies necessary to achieve quality learning and life-long success.

    We Believe:

    • All students have dignity and worth.
    • All students have the right to be served by a professional school counselor as well as by a developmental and comprehensive school counseling program.
    • The school counseling program will be evaluated on goals related to student competencies and shall be consistent with expected developmental stages of learning.
    • Counselors will use data to drive counseling program development and evaluatiion and will actively monitor student results.
    • The school counseling program shares responsibility with the community and family for student success; therefore, the school counseling program will have an advisory committee comprised of state certified professional school counselors as well as representatives from the school and the community for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the program.
    • Professional school counselors will participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities to maintain a quality school counseling program.
    • All professional school counselors will abide by the ethical guidelines and mandates of the American School Counselors Association and the Georgia School Counselors Association.

    The Forsyth County School System has aligned the work of the counseling and guidance program to the American School Counseling Association's (ASCA) National Model. The ASCA National Standards reflect the expectations for all students to achieve.

    Comprehensive Services Provided to Students

    1. School Counseling Curriculum - guidance lessons or activities to promote the knowledge, attitudes and skills in three content areas: academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth. The lessons include classroom guidance, group activities, and parent workshops and instruction.
    2. Individual Student Planning - activities designed to assist students to establish personal goals and develop future plans, which include appraisals and individual or small group advisement.
    3. Responsive Services - activities that meet students' immediate needs and concerns, such as consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling, referrals, and peer facilitation.
    4. System Support - activities that enhance the school counseling program and support the school. The activities include professional development, consultation and collaboration, and program management and operations.
