    ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app the course description. 

     
    According to the regulations of the (GA DDS), Driver’s Education is defined as “a 30 and 6 driver’s education course is a course that consists of at least 30 hours of classroom training on the rules of the road and other related matters and 6 hours of behind the wheel training, where the student is driving the vehicle while an approved instructor observes and coaches the student’s driving performance. 
    *Insurance companies require teen drivers to complete a 30 and 6 course before offering any premium discounts.
     

    Driver’s Education Classes in Forsyth County Schools

    ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app offers 30 hours of classroom instruction coupled by driving simulator experience. Students may earn 0.5 Carnegie units of credit for successful completion of the Driver’s Education class. Driving simulators are provided by the Forsyth County Board of Education and  (Lanier Extended Area Driver Education Resource) Program in each high school.  The class fee is $100. The six hours of behind-the-wheel training are available from many ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Partners in Education.  

     

    Limited Certificate of Completion for Driver’s Education

    ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app only issues limited certificates of completion at the end of 30 hours of classroom instruction which satisfies Joshua’s law requirement for obtaining a license. Certificates of completion for Driver’s Education are issued by state-approved facilities when a student has completed both the 30 hours of classroom instruction and the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. Because ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app does not offer behind-the-wheel training, there will be no certificates of completion issued for driver’s education. Additionally, ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app does not offer driving tests.
     
     
    Senate Bill 226, also known as "Joshua's Law," was passed during the 2005 General Assembly. Beginning July 1, 2021, all 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds applying for a Class D driver’s license must complete a total of 40 hours of supervised driving, including six hours of supervised driving recommended at night with a parent or guardian’s sworn verification that these requirements have been met. Any Georgia resident who has not completed an approved driver's education course must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for a Class D driver's license. He or she must have completed a total of at least 40 hours of supervised driving, including at least six hours at night. The same verification in writing by a parent or guardian is required.
